9 December Winter Lecture: William McKeown 7:00pm, The Chapel, IMMA In association with the exhibition of works by the prominent Irish artist William McKeown presents an illustrated lecture on his iconic practice of monochrome painting, watercolor and installation. The first issue of Boulevard Magenta, scheduled to appear in February 2009, will include contributions by writers David Mitchell, Colm Tóibín, André Aciman; poets Derek Mahon, Jose Carlos Llop, John Ashbery, Seamus Heaney, Luis Antonio de Villena, Adam Zagajewski; artists Francesco Clemente, Sean Scully, Nalini Malani, Miquel Barceló, Terry Winters; composer Kevin Volans; designers Future Systems, as well as an interview with writer Czesław Miłosz by curator Hans Ulrich Obrist and artist Philippe Parreno. Priced at €35.00, this first issue will also feature an excerpt from the script of director Tran Anh Hung’s upcoming film I Come with the Rain, accompanied by photographs taken during filming. Members’ are also invited to the opening of an exhibition to mark the major donation of some 30 works by the internationally renowned British-born painter Hughie O’Donoghue to IMMA by the American art collector Craig Baker.
